National Momentum:
Expanding Financial Education Coast to Coast
|
|
Thanks for joining us for another edition of the FB Top 3! Each month we celebrate the impact of financial education and the partners and volunteers who make it possible. We’re proud to now serve learners in 16 states, and we’re just getting started. From rural towns to major cities, momentum is building, and with your support, Financial Beginnings is ready to reach even more communities ahead.

1. Spotlight on Rural Oregon: 1,000 New Students Added!
At a recent professional development day in Florence, our workshop made such an impression that Siuslaw High’s economics teacher immediately committed all five of his finance classes to our full Financial Foundations series. The result? Over 1,000 students in rural Oregon will gain life-changing financial skills this year—the largest single group we’ve ever served in a rural community.
This kind of impact doesn’t happen by chance. It’s the result of deep roots in the Pacific Northwest and passionate local volunteers who bring financial education to life. Together, we’re proving that rural schools and communities can be powerful engines of financial empowerment.

2. Bright Futures Ahead: September Is College Savings Month
September is College Savings Month, and we've been celebrating at Financial Beginnings! From rural classrooms in Oregon to new partnerships in Oklahoma and beyond, we’re helping students and families prepare for the cost of higher education, whether that’s a four-year university, community college, or skilled trade program.
As we expand nationally, our commitment stays the same: to provide clear, practical tools for saving, borrowing, and budgeting so learners everywhere, urban and rural alike, can build confident paths to their future goals. This September, we’re spotlighting the power of financial preparation to open doors across the country.

3. Financial Literacy on the Frontier: Oklahoma! Takes the Stage
Financial Beginnings’ impact is spreading nationwide, and Oklahoma is leading the way. With support from the Department of Human Services, our partner Public Strategies has adapted modules from SAFE, Forward, and Foundations to serve the state’s most vulnerable communities.
In a recent training, nonprofit leaders and staff serving foster youth, justice-involved individuals, and families facing housing and food insecurity learned how to bring these tools directly to those who need them most. Oklahoma shows how our model can scale- meeting local needs while advancing financial empowerment across the country.

Ken C.
When it comes to making financial education stick, Ken C. knows how to bring it to life. During a recent Goals and Tools session at Epson Portland Inc., his engaging style had such an impact that within 10 minutes of wrapping up, five more participants signed up—just from hearing their co-workers rave about it.
“Ken did a fantastic job. This is such an impactful course, and we are so grateful,” shared one participant.
Ken’s dedication shows the power of volunteers to not only teach skills but also inspire entire workplaces and communities to take control of their financial futures.
